Empire Electrical Contractors Inc. is one of central Florida's most experienced, affordable and reliable solar and electrical system contractors. When you decide to make the switch to a solar electrical system for your home or any commercial operation, we will come to your location, do a complete site evaluation and then recommend the most efficient and affordable system for your particular needs. We will also help you obtain any rebates and incentives you qualify for from local utilities, or state and federal government programs, which can save you a large portion of the money you invest in your solar energy system.

Different Types Of Solar Energy Systems

There are three types of solar energy systems Empire Electrical Contractors Inc. installs for residential or commercial applications.

Grid Tie-In Systems

A grid tie-in system uses a solar panel array, a power inverter and a controller to generate power directly to the main electrical panel of the building. This system is tied directly into the local utility company's power grid, and any excess power generated during the day that is not used by the building will be sold back to the utility company. This type of system is the most common installation for both commercial and residential use, as it offers a way to offset the cost of the system by selling the excess power back to the utility. Power from the utility's grid is usually only used at night.

Grid Tie-In With Battery Backup Systems

This system is the same as the standard grid tie-in system, but offers battery storage for use in the event of a grid failure. In this system, the inverter converts the direct current (DC) power from the batteries to alternating current (AC) to power the building and any appliances.

Stand Alone Systems

A stand alone system is not tied to the utilities power grid and uses a solar array and inverter to supply all the power to the building. These systems use battery storage to supply power to the building at night or whenever the solar panels are not generating power. Because of this, stand alone systems also use larger capacity batteries than the grid-tie systems. Stand alone systems are designed for remote locations where there is no access to the power grid, or remote equipment such as pumping stations, etc.

These systems are also the perfect solution for homes or businesses that want to function “off the grid”. In this case, the system must be carefully planned and the selection of energy efficient appliances and lighting fixtures are an important part of the overall design of your home or business' power system design.

Why Should You Invest In A Solar Energy System?

The main reasons to invest in a solar energy system are the economic savings system reliability. Solar energy systems will save you significant amounts of money on your utility bills and will actually pay for themselves over a reasonable period of time. Electrical rates in Florida have increased an average of 6.7% each year over the last 15 years. Installing solar now is like paying for over 30 years of power now at a fraction of the cost.

The environmental impact of solar systems is also very significant. A standard 5KW solar system will eliminate over five tons of CO2 emissions into the air per year, which is the equivalent of driving a car 12,441 miles!

Residential Applications

If you are tired of excessively high bills from your utility company and would also like to live a more environmentally friendly lifestyle, solar power is just what you are looking for. Solar power is suitable for all sizes of home, and modern solar panels are designed unobtrusively, so will not be an eyesore for you and your neighbors. Even a small-scale residential solar system can save considerable amounts in utility bills, and generate enough power to sell back to the utility company.

If you would like to live in a remote or undeveloped area, a solar power system is even more useful, as it allows you to live in areas currently not served by the local grid, saving you the considerable expense of bringing grid power to your property.

Residential Advantages

A solar system at your Florida home will:

  • Increase the resale value of your home ($20,000 for every $1,000 saved on your yearly electric bill)
  • Reduce or even totally eliminate your monthly utility bill
  • Lower CO2 emissions into the environment caused by the energy you would have burned

Commercial Applications

Going solar is a very effective way for any Florida business to reduce their overhead by lowering, offsetting or even eliminating high utility bills. As a business owner you are always looking for ways to cut operating costs and Empire Electrical Contractors, Inc. specializes in commercial installations that will help your business save money. The IRS is now offering a 30% federal income tax credit on the total installation cost for solar systems thru 2016.

Some additional financial commercial benefits of installing a solar system are:

  • 5-year MACRS Depreciation
  • As quick as 6-year ROI

Commercial Advantages

A solar system for your business will:

  • Add value and increase the overall resale value of your commercial property
  • Reduce overhead by lowering monthly utility costs
  • Protect your business from rising energy costs and fees
  • Lower CO2 emissions into the environment caused by the energy you would have burned
